Alexis and Ve are both teachers and fell in love while working at the same school. For their wedding they felt that it was very important to them to keep the wedding small and about their family and closest friends. In doing so, they opted out of having a bridal party and had a sweetheart table at the reception. They joked that they were too "old" to have a bridal party but without the bridal party it made the celebration have a more sophisticated feel. Instead they had their siblings and parents walk down the aisle during the ceremony as honoured guests while a couple of their dear friends played live music. Initially, Alexis was going to have her brother play music as she walked down the aisle because it's her favourite memory of them as children, listening to him play his guitar but he was worried he would be too emotional. Instead, he made each of the delicious cookies that were handed out as favours to their guests, which was something that they also enjoyed doing together. There were so many of these personal touches throughout their wedding. During the reception they had their family speak and they were some of the most heartfelt and hilarious speeches I've ever heard at a wedding. The entire day really felt like everyone knew everyone and it was a gathering of their most important loves, to celebrate them.
